A devastating fire engulfed the Think Liberia Safe Orphanage Home in the GSA Lover Street Community, Paynesville, on yesterday afternoon, claiming the lives of two children and leaving the community in shock.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire started suddenly, and quickly spread through the orphanage before emergency responders could bring it under control.
The Liberia National Fire Service arrived on the scene and managed to contain the blaze, but tragically, two children were found dead in the aftermath.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but authorities have launched a full investigation to determine what sparked the deadly outbreak.
“We are working diligently to uncover the source of the fire and ensure that steps are taken to prevent such a tragedy from happening again,” said a spokesperson for the Liberia National Fire Service.
Community members have expressed deep sorrow and concern over the safety conditions at the orphanage and similar facilities.
“This is heartbreaking,” said one local resident. “We need to ensure that orphanages and other homes for vulnerable children are better protected.”
Officials have assured the public that updates on the investigation and any support efforts for the orphanage will be communicated as they become available.
