Liberia is fully and adequately represented on the global stage at the ongoing China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC) four-month media exchange program in Beijing,  People’s Republic of China.

On Thursday, February 27, 2025, the China International Press Communication Center (CIPCC), through the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA), officially commenced activities and project presentations for over 55 journalists  who are from across Africa participating in the capacity-building training.

The CIPCC, under CPDA, launched this initiative to create a platform for journalists from developing countries to observe China’s development and gain an in-depth understanding of the nation’s progress.

The exchange program aims to familiarize journalists with modern China while allowing them to share their professional experiences in the field of journalism.

As part of its commitment to international media cooperation, the CIPCC has provided accommodation for journalists in the Diplomatic Residence Compound in central Beijing, along with other necessary support.

Throughout the program, participating journalists will receive lectures on China’s socio-economic development, diplomacy, science and technology, culture, and governance.

A major focus will be on China’s two key political sessions—the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

The CPCC will organize symposiums with government departments, enterprises, and think tanks, as well as visits to selected provinces.

Participants  are also expected to receive specialized training in journalism, internships with Chinese media houses, and opportunities to cover major domestic and diplomatic events.

The 2025 program runs from March to July 11 and has welcomed the first batch of 55 participants from a total of 120 journalists representing more than 100 countries across six regional communication centers.

On February 27, participants gathered in a closed-door briefing at the Multi-functional Hall on the 2nd floor of Building 15 to receive orientation on program activities, China’s media landscape, and guidelines for their stay.

Speaking at the event, CPCC Director Yu Lei welcomed the journalists and provided key insights into the program’s objectives.

He expressed appreciation for their safe arrival and encouraged them to respect China’s laws while taking full advantage of the opportunity to explore the country.

“On behalf of CPCC, I welcome you to the People’s Republic of China. I trust you are already enjoying your stay. However, I urge you to abide by China’s rules and regulations. This program is about fostering mutual understanding between China and the international community,” he stated.

He further noted that CPCC, now over a decade old, has expanded from a regional press center to a global media exchange platform.

He assured participants that they would be given access to cover China’s 14th NPC and CPPCC opening sessions, beginning on March 4, 2025.

This year’s CIPCC exchange program is expected to deepen international media cooperation and provide journalists with firsthand experience of China’s governance, economic growth, and technological advancements.
