The newly appointed Chairperson of the Liberia Land Authority (LLA), Samuel Kpakio, has called on all employees and staff to improve their work ethic, embrace efficiency, and adopt best practices to enhance service delivery in the land sector.
Speaking during his first media engagement upon taking over the LLA, Chairman Kpakio emphasized that his leadership will usher in a new era for the LLA, promising a shift from the status quo.
He assured development partners and the public that his tenure will be anchored on the core values of the Authority, including quality service delivery, transparency, fairness, accountability, integrity, professionalism, and respect.
“As we strive together, let me make it clear that there will be no business as usual. We cannot continue to do the same things and expect different results,” Chairman Kpakio asserted.
He vowed that under his leadership, there would be no tolerance for unethical and unprofessional conduct within the Authority, both administratively and in dealings with development partners and the public.
He called for the full support and cooperation of staff to enable the LLA to regain its image and fulfill its mandate.
“Together, we can make substantial strides in land reform, land governance, and sustainable land management,” he noted, highlighting the Authority’s critical role in resolving complex and contentious land issues.
In a bid to boost employee morale and productivity, Chairman Kpakio assured staff that the management will provide training and incentives to enhance their professional capabilities.
He urged employees to work as a team to improve service delivery and uphold the LLA’s mission of ensuring equitable land access, security of tenure, proper land use, and environmental protection.
Addressing the challenges facing the land sector, Chairman Kpakio acknowledged growing public frustrations and called for decisive actions to restore confidence in the LLA.
He vowed to hold accountable any staff contributing to the sector’s challenges, warning that those undermining the Authority’s mandate must reform or face consequences.
“To the Liberian public, on whose trust we serve, let me give you hope. I will impress upon my colleagues about the importance of taking swift action to address your concerns. The LLA will work closely with relevant government institutions, including the judiciary, to ensure that those engaged in dubious land activities are held accountable,” he stated.
Chairman Kpakio encouraged staff to collaborate and share information to strengthen the Authority’s effectiveness. “We see you as partners, and with your support, we will be better prepared to combat these issues. This is our responsibility, and we will not relent until we have a well-functioning land sector,” he declared.
