LNRCS Commences 52nd GA In Bong  

The Liberian National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) has commenced its 52nd   General Assembly with a call for leaders of the entity to enhance sustainable growth and development.

During the opening of the General Assembly in Gbarnga City Bong County, the keynote speaker, Judge Roosevelt Z. Willie of Criminal Court A, asserted that the Liberian National Red Cross Society’s management and governance should make continual efforts to improve and sustain development with robust governance oversight and monitoring process.

The keynote speaker emphasized that it is vital for the leadership of the Liberian Red Cross to ensure transparent and accountable activities to the stakeholders and the public stressing that it is significant for the leadership to engage in spending less resources to achieve much in terms of priorities.

The outgoing president of the Liberian National Red Cross Society, Jerome N. J. Clarke II, unveiled that the LNRCS has a transparent and accountable system that has encouraged partners to work with the present management in meeting the humanitarian needs of vulnerable communities.

He further urged the Liberian Government to increase the budgetary allotment, stressing that the previous government was unable to meet its obligations to provide budgetary allotment to the LNRCS, emphasizing that it is affecting the humanitarian impact of the LNRCS locally.

The LNRCS President also expressed gratitude to the developmental partners for their support.   

He urged the delegates during the General Assembly to make a prudent decision in electing a new leadership of the LNRCS that will serve with integrity that will reflect on the overall good of the society.

“I extended congratulations to the county’s chapter chairpersons and their leaders on their successful elections, your passion and commitment to serving humanity are truly inspiring”, the outgoing president indicated.

Encouraging the various chapters’ leadership, Mr. Clarke, II, underscored the need for them to work in their respective positions diligently with honour and always prioritize the interest of the communities and those in need, proclaiming that their leadership is vital in strengthening the mission of the Liberian Red Cross.

Appreciating the contributions of Bong, Bomi, and Rivercess counties for including the Liberian Red Cross in the County Development fund, Secretary General Gregory Blamoh said such funding was part of the Liberian Government’s way of supporting the LNRCS humanitarian work.

The three countries’ authorities received certificates of recognition each for supporting the LNRCS local chapters.

Responding during the recognition was the Administration and Liaison Officer of Bong County Superintendent, Cammue Dormea, who expressed gratitude to the Liberian National Red Cross Society for such a recognition, stressing that County Administration and the Red Cross have been partnering in the development and progress of the county, and its inhabitants.

The 52nd General Assembly of the Liberia National Red Cross is held under the theme “Enhancing governance and leadership for growth and sustainable development” brought together county governance Board chairpersons from the fifteen counties, National Board leadership, Management, and a Delegate from the Swedish Red Cross as well the president of the Sierra Leone Red Cross-National Board President.

The gathering is expected to end with the election of a new corps of national board leadership.
