President Joseph Boakai has called on the newly established National Youth Advisory Council to be bold and innovative in addressing the needs and aspirations of Liberia’s youth.
During the Council’s inaugural meeting on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the Executive Mansion, President Boakai underscored the critical role young people play in shaping Liberia’s future and emphasized the Council’s responsibility to act as a bridge between the government and the youth population.
“The formation of this Council is not just a gesture but a commitment to empowering young people to have a direct influence on the policies and programs that impact them,” President Boakai remarked.
He emphasized that the selection of members was based on merit, recognizing their outstanding achievements, dedication, and passion for service.
President Boakai urged the Council to remain inclusive in their work, fostering unity among young Liberians regardless of their backgrounds.
He challenged them to be role models by upholding integrity and demonstrating high standards in leadership.
“Your service is not just for today but for generations to come. Lead with empathy, humility, and a deep understanding of the struggles young Liberians face daily,” he said.
While congratulating the members on their appointments, President Boakai reminded them of the immense responsibility they bear. “You are not just leaders; you are the voice of Liberia’s youth. Your work will shape the future of our nation,” he added.
The President further tasked the Council with crafting actionable strategies to address pressing issues.
He expressed confidence in their ability to effect meaningful change, urging them to approach their responsibilities with focus and discipline.
However, the establishment of the National Youth Advisory Council marks a key milestone in President Boakai’s commitment to youth inclusion in governance.
The Council is expected to serve as a vital platform for ensuring that the voices of young Liberians are heard in policymaking and community development.
As they begin their tenure, the Council members are poised to play a transformative role in creating opportunities and addressing challenges faced by Liberia’s youth, aligning with President Boakai’s vision for an inclusive and prosperous Liberia.
