The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has successfully wrapped up a pivotal two-day working session designed to shape the nation’s National Digital Government Strategy and Action Plan.
Held at the Ministry, the event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders from across various sectors to collaborate on the future of Liberia’s digital transformation.
With an overarching goal of fostering a more inclusive and efficient government, the working sessions featured dynamic discussions and brainstorming activities.
These focused on integrating digital technologies into public services, improving transparency, and making government operations more accessible to all Liberians.
The collaboration reflected a shared commitment to harnessing technology as a tool for national progress, and a collective effort to ensure that Liberia embraces the opportunities the digital era offers.
The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including the current state of digital services in Liberia, existing challenges in implementing technological solutions, and the numerous opportunities that lie ahead.
Participants stressed the importance of a holistic strategy; one that does not only address technological infrastructure and innovation but also takes into account Liberia’s unique socio-economic context.
The need for digital solutions that are both sustainable and inclusive was highlighted, with a particular emphasis on ensuring equitable access for all segments of the population.
The participants also pointed out the importance of balancing rapid technological advancements with the country’s capacity to manage and implement these changes effectively.
Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Sekou Kromah, expressed optimism about the progress made during the session, emphasizing that the insights gathered would play a crucial role in formulating a robust and effective National Digital Government Strategy.
“We are excited about the progress made during these two days,” the Minister said.
“The input gathered will be essential in crafting a National Digital Government Strategy that aligns with Liberia’s broader development goals and the aspirations of our citizens. Our aim is to ensure that no one is left behind as we transition into the digital era,” he said.
The working session underscored the importance of an inclusive, multi-stakeholder approach to policy development.
The stakeholders expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and contribute directly to shaping Liberia’s digital future.
This collaborative effort marks a significant step in the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to create a comprehensive framework for the country’s digital government.
The next steps involve synthesizing the feedback and recommendations gathered from the session into a draft strategy.
Once compiled, the draft will undergo further review and consultation with broader stakeholders before it is finalized and implemented.
