Sen. Dillon Fulfills Promise

In an effort to fulfill his promises made during the senatorial elections, Montserrado County Senator, Abraham Darius Dillon has remitted US$12,000 out of his four months salaries to the people of Montserrado County for developments.
Speaking to media when he delivered the amount to selected officials that were reportedly vetted by the 17 electoral districts, Dillon indicated that the amount is in fulfillment of his promise and his efforts in pleasing his plan to put the light on at the Liberian Legislature.
Dillon said his promise to unearth Lawmaker’s take home salaries has been accomplished, and also achieved to be the first lawmaker to declare his assets on the day he was inducted as indicated by law.
“Today, gov’t paid us (Senators) for August, September, October, and November under the harmonized 2019, 2020 fiscal budget. In our gross US$10,494.00 take-home salaries, we collected $7,994 after tax deduction. So, in fulfillment of our promises to our people, I am going to return US$12,000 to Montserrado County,” Dillon said.
According to Dillon, his biggest goal is for all the 103 lawmakers to follow suit by taking home $5,000 each and remit the rest to their respective districts/ counties for development purposes.
“We had insisted that our action was to call the attention for the bigger picture which is intended for colleagues to emulate. If the 103 lawmakers, including me (Dillon) took only US$5,000 each, we will be saving this country about US$ 600,000 every month. IF we do this in 12 months, we will get closed to US$7m that would save this country than putting it back in the health sector to upgrade the educational sector,” Dillon said.
