The mayor of the municipality of Paynesville, Robert Bestman, hosted a high-level meeting with heads of the city’s joint security forces.
This is the first time in many years that a Paynesville mayor has engaged in direct, one-on-one talks with the city’s security agencies, underscoring the local government’s commitment to improving security in the area.
The meeting, held behind closed doors, brought together key representatives from the Liberia National Police (LNP), Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA), and the Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS).
The session was seen as a crucial step towards fostering stronger collaboration between the Paynesville City Corporation (PCC) and the security agencies that are tasked with maintaining law and order in the municipality.
In his remarks during the meeting, Mayor Bestman emphasized the importance of a robust partnership between the Paynesville City Government and the joint security forces.
He stressed that the safety and well-being of Paynesville residents depend heavily on the effectiveness of such cooperation.
“The collaboration and cordial relationship between the PCC and the Joint Security is key to ensuring that Paynesville remains a safe place for all its residents,” the mayor stated.
The Paynesville City Mayor further pledged the full support of the city government to the security forces in their efforts to maintain peace and order.
“The City Government of Paynesville stands ready to work with you, to provide any assistance necessary to enhance your operations and keep our streets safe,” he added.
Addressing the meeting, Paynesville City Police Director, Lt. Melvin Tolbert, outlined the key areas where security efforts would be concentrated, especially with the upcoming festive season.
He identified high-traffic locations, such as the ELWA Junction, Red Light Market, Du-port Road Junction, and GSA Junction, as priority zones for security attention during this busy period. “This meeting is not only about strengthening our relationship with the joint security but also about developing strategies for increased safety, particularly as we approach the festive season,” Lt. Tolbert noted.
The Joint Security forces present at the meeting expressed their gratitude for the initiative, welcoming the opportunity to work closely with the Paynesville City Corporation.
The security agencies reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of Paynesville’s residents and promised to collaborate actively with local authorities to implement the strategies discussed during the session.
The meeting is seen as a significant step toward improving the security landscape in Paynesville, particularly as the city prepares for the challenges and increased activity of the holiday season. Both the Paynesville City Corporation and the joint security forces have vowed to continue working together to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for all citizens.
