Nimba Police detachment, says investigation is ongoing into a man found dead in the town of Dopuyee in Nimba County.
Speaking at Gompa Police Station, Police narrated that preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim (Joe Wilson Quinah) resident of Gbarnga was allegedly killed by an angry crowd after being accused of stealing a motorbike.
According to police, a preliminary investigation has established that the victim died as the result of mob violence by an angry crowd after being accused of motorcycle theft and the motorbike used in committing the act is in the custody of the police.
“Police has arrested Jeremiah Kolleh, age 22 years old, and is in police custody,” Police disclosed.
“The motorcyclist, identified as Harrison Harris was badly wounded and is undergoing medical treatment at the Gompa Methodist Hospital.
When this paper contacted suspect Jeremiah Kolleh, he admitted to bringing the victim and a friend to be identified from Gbarnga to Gompa under a special agreement to steal a motorbike.
“We contacted motorcyclist Harrison Harris in Gompa to drop us in Gbarnga, when we arrived at Dopuyee town on Monrovia highway junction. There we stopped and started beating the boy and the boy started shouting my people you come for me, they are killing me, people started coming, I escaped into the bush, and the people overpowered my friend and beat him to death,” suspect Jeremiah Kolleh explained his ordeal.
When contacted the Gompa CSD commander Emmanuel M. Zeambo, confirmed the victim and detention of Jeremiah Kolleh in connection with homicide that led to mob violence that allegedly killed Joe Wilson Quinah and wounded Harrison Harris respectively.
“Investigation is still ongoing into the case as the victim’s family were contacted by the police and has taken delivery of their body, while at present Jeremiah Kolleh is the only suspect in police custody undergoing investigations,” CSD Emmanuel Zeambo divulged.
