FC Fassell Moves Atop Topflight Standings

The Liberia Football Association national first division league continues with progressional pace for many clubs including rebranded Fassell Football Club who has moved to the top of the league standing after playing three rounds of matches.
FC Fassell is the only team in the 2024 league season that have not lost a single from three matches and they are currently leading the campaign with a total of nine points.
Owned and operated by former LFA vice president Cassell Kouh, Fassell, as a club in the ongoing national league has become the most watched playing team throughout the country.
From the start of the season, the team has been able to pour out the highest number of spectators to watch their matches across different playing pitches.
With their current playing form, the club making a reappearance to the national leagues after being away for many years continues to pose threats to other teams participating in the competition most especially at a time where they are rumored to be the biggest spending football team in Liberia at the moment.
‘The missionaries’ as the affectionate way they been called, are atop of Heaven Eleven on two clear points while waiting to meet others that are still predicted to have a rivalry against them as the league goes on.
The ‘job done well’ segment for Cassell boys in the first phase have been witnessed against Bea Mountain, Blackman Warrior and Discoveries Sports Academy.
They were the first team in the competition this season to defeat the forceful debutants in Discoveries with a lone goal at the TUSA Field in Gardnerville during the weeks in third round of matches.
Fassell had a lively start during their reintroduction to the LFA league with a 3-0 victory against the 2023/2024 season runner-up Bea Mountain.
Thereafter they went on to stun the Warrior one-nil in their second match.
They will sit and enjoy the top spot for nearly one week.
To maintain it will last in their power to play for a win against the league champions in their next match.
Watanga is due to meet Fassell in the two side fourth set of matches on November 3, 2024 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex practice pitch in Paynesville.
The fixture will intensify the reigning champions quest for a win in the ongoing season while the “Missionaries” will be hoping to extend their winning spree under their Belgian manager Ivan Minnaert.
Coach Minnaert have made it clear in one of his post-match conversations that at FC Fassell, their focus is not on who their opponents are.
What matters to them according to him is three points from every match played that is why they collect points after points.
The current form of Watanga makes it unpredictable to tell what the outcome of their fixture could be against a side that seems to be firing huge pressure for their wins in the past three games.
Coach Cooper Sannon, would be under obligation to get his first win of the season in order to place a taste of victory on the hearts of their fans and supporters. For approximately seven months, the champions have only been able to win a single match in competitive fixture and that was against Paynesville FC in the Super Cup final.
At the end of the last season, they were crowned champions and went to represent the country at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League.
There, they went double lost at the might of MC Algiers in Algeria.
