Global News Network (GNN) resumes operation with a new editorial team after a period of closure due to the demise of its founder and publisher, Mr. Joel Cholo Brooks.
Resuming its online publication, GNN will hit the newsstand with its hard copies at the end of October 2024.
A press release says a new editorial team headed by veteran Journalist Bill Jarkloh has taken responsibility to continue the legacy of its founding editor and publisher, while Mr. James Brooks and Rachel Brooks assume responsibility as the publishers of the paper.
The new team taking over the outlet says it has taken not of the contemporary political and socio-cultural landscape of the country and global trends and promised to transcend partisan biases so as to stand up to the challenge of running a professional but fearless and bias-freed outlets that will contribute meaningfully to the development of the country through information dissemination.
“Those who stand with us in achieving this objective for the masses of the Liberian people”, the management said, “are our true friends.”
The new editorial head notes that the interest of the Liberian people will remain paramount in its operation and adds that the paper will act and play to the game of liberating from abject poverty and will fiercely fight against corruption in all its forms.
“Mr. Brooks’ legacy must prevail; he stood for professional journalism, one which was selfless and purposeful in defending the rights of the people,” Mr. Jarkloh.
Mr. Jarkloh will be associating with other senior professional journalists, including Klonious Blamo and James Davids to take up the task of professionalizing the paper.
Meanwhile, the new management is encouraging all GNN’s local and international partners and supporters to remain supportive to the cause of making the paper viable on the Liberian media market.
The GNN was established by Mr. Brooks and has made strides over the years as it relates to information dissemination and public education..
