Jerry Kennedy Unveiled As Head Coach Of Grand Kru County Kickball Team

In an exciting development for local sports, Grand Kru County has officially appointed Jerry Kennedy as the head coach of its kickball team. The announcement was made during a lively unveiling ceremony on Wednesday, where Kennedy expressed his eagerness to embrace this new challenge.
Kennedy, who previously served as the head coach for Margibi County, is determined to lead Grand Kru to success in the upcoming 2024/2025 County Meet. He promised not only to qualify the team for the quarterfinals but to also clinch the championship title as well.
“I have come to join Grand Kru County with my heart to lift the county meet trophy this year,” Kennedy stated. He emphasized his commitment to the team and his confidence in bringing several talented players along to help achieve this goal.
Alfred Sayon, chairman of the Grand Kru County Sports Steering Committee, expressed the county’s enthusiasm about Kennedy’s appointment. “We are delighted to have Jerry Kennedy as our head coach. He’s committed, and we are prepared to provide him with all the support he needs—financial, logistical, and otherwise,” Sayon said. He highlighted the importance of winning, stating that Kennedy’s mandate is clear: to bring home the trophy.
Kennedy’s impressive track record includes 11 years with Margibi County, where he held multiple roles, including team manager and deputy coach. He led Margibi to victory in the 2019 National County Sports Meet, defeating Grand Bassa County.
Reflecting on his transition, Kennedy shared that his decision was influenced by his sister, who encouraged him to take this new step. “It’s time for me to make a move,” he noted, indicating a strong desire to invest in Grand Kru’s kickball future. “At the coming County Meet, you will see me jubilating with my trophy in my hand,” he promised.
Grand Kru County is set to compete in Group B alongside Grand Gedeh, Margibi, and Montserrado Counties in the National County Sports Meet, the most significant sports event in Liberia. This year’s meet is scheduled to kick off in December 2024. As excitement builds, all eyes will be on Kennedy and his team to see if they can deliver on their ambitious goals.
