The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) has concluded the physical test phase as part of the ongoing recruitment process for 500 new officers at the Liberia Immigration Service Training Academy (LISTA) in Foya City, Lofa County.
The tests were conducted nationwide at several key locations.
The recruitment process, which began with applications from July 22 to August 2, 2024, included a written test and the ongoing Physical Test.
A total of 9,743 candidates applied, with 8,100 progressing to the written test after initial credential and age checks. Approximately 4,000 candidates participated in the Physical Test at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Sports Stadium in Paynesville for Montserrado County, Doris Williams Sports Stadium in Buchanan City for Margibi, Grand Bassa, and Rivercess counties.
Other locations includes; David Kuyon Sports Stadium in Gbarnga City for Lofa, Nimba, and Bong counties, C. H. Dewey Field in Tubmanburg City for Gbarpolu, Grand Cape Mount, and Bomi counties, Fishtown Sports Stadium in Fishtown City for Grand Kru, River Gee, Maryland, Grand Kru, and Sinoe counties.
The recruitment process is structured in five phases: Application, Written Test, Physical Test, Medical, and Admission to Training at the Academy.
Tragically, the LIS has reported the death of one of the applicants, Henry Wesseh, from Yarkpa Town, Rivercess County.
Wesseh, who had successfully passed the initial phases of the recruitment process, collapsed during the Physical Test held at Dorris Williams Sports Stadium in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County.
He was rushed to Buchanan City Government Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The LIS extends its heartfelt condolences to Wesseh’s family.
