LINSU Advocates For Progressive National Development -Announces 6th Post-War General Congress

The Liberia National Students’ Union (LINSU) announced the commencement of activities leading up to the 6th Post-War General Congress.
In a press conference held June 12 2024 in Monrovia, LINSU expressed that this significant event in the students’ community, themed “Advancing the Nation on a Progressive Path; The Student Movement Remains the Vanguard,” aims to consolidate efforts towards social justice, advocacy, activism, academic excellence, and national development.
The announcement was made by the Congress Preparatory Committee (CPC), chaired by Julius G. Dahn, following a mandate from the National Administrative Council (NAC).
The NAC, in its session on May 25, 2024, appointed the CPC to oversee the organization of the General Congress, reaffirming LINSU’s pivotal role in shaping the national consciousness.
Secretary-General Alieu Hicrates Sackor emphasized LINSU’s commitment to its revolutionary moral compass, ensuring the union’s strategic involvement in national discourse.
“In the cause of social justice, academic excellence, and freedom, LINSU remains strong,” Sackor stated. The CPC outlined a detailed calendar of events leading to the General Congress: County Union Elections: June 25 to July 22, 2024, due payment of full member unions: June 17 – June 22, 2024; candidate nomination by full member unions: June 24 – June 29, 2024.
Others activities are candidates registration: June 24-29, 2024, publication of qualified candidates by CPC: July 5, 2024, candidates’ debate: July 8-11, 2024, arrival to the general congress: august 16, 2024, executive committee elections: August 17, 2024 and departure: August 18, 2024.
The CPC expressed gratitude to the National Executive Committee and the NAC for their support and pledged to ensure that the process would be conducted in a free, fair, transparent, and democratic manner.
As the LINSU gears up for this pivotal event, the student union reiterates its unwavering dedication to advocating for progressive change and national development, reinforcing the vital role of the student movement in Liberia’s future.
