Rep. Norman Accuses Senators Of Disunity In Gbarpolu

By Bill W. Cooper

Gbarpolu County District 1 Representative, Zinnah Norman, has accused two of his colleagues, senators, of being in the habit of causing serious disunity among leaders of the county since their ascendancy.

Rep. Norman also alleged that Senators Amara Konneh and Botoe Kanneh have been engaged in divisive politics and spreading false and misleading informations about other county’s officials aimed at creating tension among the people of Gbarpolu.

Norman asserted that as a result of the persistent disunity among the county’s legislators, the division has further stalled the election of a leadership for the county legislative caucus, which he said is crucial for cohesive and effective governance.

The accusation by the lawmaker is said to have sparked a heated debate in the county with many calling for unity and cooperation among their leaders but that seems not to be ending soon as the political drama unfolds in the county.

In an ELBC Radio interview, the Gbarpolu County District 1 Representative revealed that both Senators Konneh and Kanneh have intentionally delayed the hosting of the caucus election; reason best known to themselves, a decision he said, if not handed could cause chaos on the county.

The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) lawmaker recounted a conversation with Sen. Kanneh a month ago, during which he said she suggested that due to her longstanding tenure, she should assume the position of caucus chair without an election.

He then expressed his strong opposition to the proposal, advocating instead for a democratic election process to determine the caucus leadership, emphasizing that the county elected officials should follow proper electoral procedures rather than appointing leaders without consensus.

Norman further stated that the lack of a unified leadership and understanding has since resulted in each lawmaker operating independently, something he believes undermining the county’s overall development and governance.

He, at the same time, announced his intention to formally communicate with the Minister of Internal Affairs, urging him to refrain from conducting any business with county officials until a proper election for the caucus leadership is held.

Meanwhile, Rep. Norman also accused Sen. Konneh and Kanneh of spreading rumors and making baseless accusations against him and others in an attempt to sow discord and undermine the unity of the county.

He also claimed that the senators have been neglecting their duties and failing to address the needs of the people of Gbarpolu thus focusing on cheviot issues at the detriment of the people of Gbarpolu County.
