U$5,000 Per Win At CAF Inter-Club Games -As Kouh Challenges Watanga

The former Vice president of operation of the Liberia Football Association, Cassell Kouh, has openly challenged to boost LFA National First Division League champion’s performance at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions league.
Kouh has promised to dish out US$5,000 for the club as a reward in each game that the Liberian side will win as a way of uplifting their courage along their journey in the 2024/2025 CAF Champions League.
The presumptive 2026 elective congress presidential candidate made the disclosure recently in Paynesville city during a colorful award ceremony organized by the club to honor its players for the 2023/24 LFA national league which was won by them.
According to Kouh, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Kallon Football Club in Liberia, motivating plays a major role in the success of every club and contributes to the kinds of performances displayed by them especially in international competitions.
“Motivation plays a major role so, I will begin the process by giving US$5,000 in each win during the upcoming CAF Champions League,” he remarked.
At the event, he also made a commitment to present the same amount of US$5,000 to the club in few days as an appreciation package for their efforts and overall success in the just ended National league.
The Liberian champions booked their spot in the preliminary round of this year’s CAF Champions League after winning the 2023/ 2024 national league for the second time in three seasons.
For the third time in roll, recorded in their history as a club, Watanga will be making appearance at the continental stage.
Their opponents in the preliminary stage of the competition are currently unknown till the holding of a draw in next month by CAF.
In 2022, the Soldier Boys represented Liberia in the CAF Champions League after winning the topflight for the first time but fail to go beyond the first round against Nigerian champions River United Football Club.
They were thrashed 3-0 in the first leg away from home but give a good account of themselves in the second leg at home beating the Nigerian side 1-0.
At the end of the tie two players of the Liberian side Albert Korvah and Mark Gibson were transfer to River United as a result of their excellent display during the both legs.
The following football season in 2023, as the winner of the FA Cup, Watanga FC became the fourth Liberian club to be eliminated with high goal aggregates losses in CAF competition at the confederations cup level.
This happened after the club suffered a 7-2 aggregate loss in the CAF Confederation Cup against Stade Malian de Bamako of Mali.
The Liberian club were thrashed 3-1 in the first leg played at the empty seated Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex (SKD), while they were dragged 4-1 in the return leg just few days later.
