WGO Decries Poor Living Conditions In Bong

By Bill W. Cooper
The Head of the Women of Grace Organization (WGO), Felecia Garlo, has decried the poor living conditions of Liberians residing in Bong County, with a call to government to prioritize the needs of rural dwellers across Liberia.
Madam Garlo, a United States-based Liberian humanitarian, who has been providing sponsorship to over 300 children in Gbolota Town in Bong County for years, noted that her assistance to the people, especially the vulnerable children, is triggered by the devastating impact of the Ebola virus that killed over 50 persons in the area.
In 2014, Gbolota Town, situated along the Sanoyea Highway, few miles from Totota, was one of the rural towns seriously affected by the deadly Ebola epidemic in 2014; the situation has caused extreme poverty for those in the town, due to the vulnerable children who became orphans.
Speaking during her surprise visit to the people of Gbolota Town over the weekend, Madam Felecia Garlo, said her sponsorship to the people is a great help, but lamented that more should to be done for the kids whose parents lost their lives during the heat of the Ebola epidemic.
The visit of Madam Felecia Garlo, who is the Executive Director of the Women of Grace charity organization, saw children of Gbolota Town and other surrounding villages benefiting school materials, toys, clothes, and other essentials for their livelihoods.
Making remarks on behalf of the school, the principal of the institution, Theodore Paye, thanked the Women of Grace Organization, through its Executive Director, Felecia Garlo, for their support to the only elementary school in the area.
He appreciated the payment of teachers, provision of teachers’ salaries, teaching materials, as well as support to the school going kids and residents of the town.
Principal Paye used the medium to call on other non-for-profit organizations and the Liberian Government to provide more medical and educational support to the children whose parents met their demise during the Ebola outbreak in the area.
For her part, the Town Chief of Gbolota Town, Feta Kollie, lauded the Women of Grace Organization for being steadfast as it relates to rendering their support to the town and its surrounding villages.
Town Chief Feta Kollie, who vowed to ensure that the people of Gbolota town lives are improved, called for support from national government to their residents of the town.
She narrated that the people of Gbolota Town were seriously hit by the Ebola virus that left many children in the town parentless.
