Acting Defense Minister Visits Egyptian Ambassador

Acting Defense Minister, Geraldine Janet George, recently visited Ambassador Ahmed Abd EI Azeem Zeinhom Abd EI Shakour Farghaly of Egypt, at the Egyptian Embassy to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation between Liberia and Egypt.

During the meeting, the Acting Defense Minister commended the Egyptian Ambassador and expressed appreciation for the strong relationship between the defense sectors of Liberia and Egypt.

She praised the Egyptian defense sector for providing training opportunities for Liberians, and proposed that the Government of Egypt expand such programs to enhance the capabilities of civilian and military personnel in the Liberian defense sector.

Minister George highlighted the valuable role those training programs have played in building the capacities of military personnel and civilian servants within the Liberian defense sector, while suggesting additional areas for bilateral defense cooperation.

Ambassador Farghaly affirmed Egypt’s commitment to remaining a key partner for Liberia, and emphasized Egypt’s ongoing provision of training opportunities for the Armed Forces of Liberia across various military specialties.

He also commended the Acting Minister for her dedication to serving in Liberia’s defense sector and pledged full support in advancing her agenda for the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Liberia.
