Serving as a rebuttal witness following the testimony of defendant Lucas Richards, Jessica Lloyd, has accused him of attempting to give her US$10,000 to waive the charges against him.
Testifying at Criminal Court “B” on Tuesday on behalf of prosecution, witness Jessica claimed that one of Richards’ lawyers asked her to come to his office so that they could give her the money, an offer she claimed to refuse.
Jessica is the Liberian wife of the American Missionary, Lucas Richards, who is on trial for attempting to kill her.
“This is a wicked man, and he wanted to kill me like a chicken; he is worse than the devil,” witness Jessica openly told referred to her husband who was seated in the defense box.
Jessica also testified that at no time was she hit by a motorbike, as was claimed by defendant Richards when he earlier testified.
According to her, there was no bike that hit her, instead, it was only she and the defendant that were in the car, and he asked her to help him fix the car’s back tyre.
“While helping him, he hit me from the back of my head and I fell to the ground; trying to wake up, he pushed me back to the ground and he started to slice my neck, and now you can see the mark on my throat; when I later woke up, there were lots of people around. And if he says I was hit by a motorbike, why are my legs are not broken? Why was I not treated for any bruises on my skin? There is no mark on my skin,” she testified.
While on the cross examination, when the prosecution asked defendant Richards whether he confirmed the testimony that it was a motorcyclist that hit Jessica, Richards responded in the positive.
When further asked by her lawyer, “Madam witness, when you finally woke up, did you see a motorbike?” she answered saying that she did not see any motorbike.
According to her, there were lots of people around at that time who helped her, and a lady gave her a cloth to tie on her neck.
Meanwhile, when witness Jessica was questioned about whether she had sexual intercourse with defendant Richards, and to also state the first time and where they had it, she responded that defendant Richards and she had their first sexual intercourse at the Farmington Hotel before marriage, and that was in April 2023.
According to her, the last time she and defendant Richards had sexual intercourse was in Cape Mount County, in July after marriage, and that they did not use a condom before and after marriage before sex, and he ejaculated in her all the times they had sex.
“Lucas Richards and myself had sex several times at the Farmington Hotel before and after marriage, at the Farmington Hotel, the Duport road where he has his apartment, and in Cape Mount where I got pregnant,” rebuttal witness Jessica disclosed.
Meanwhile, the trial case is reserved for argument pending the issuance of a notice of assignments
