Hundreds of customers are reportedly stranded at the Liberia Bank for Development and Investment in Ganta (LBDI), Nimba County, due to continued outage of the banking platform.
Speaking in Ganta, Thelma George explained that LBDI needs to modernize the internet system to stop the internet system being frequently down.
According to Madam George, she left Zwedru on February 4, 2024 to withdraw some money for her son’s medical treatment at the Methodist Hospital in Ganta, but the faultiness of the banking system may deny her son access to medical care.
“My son is sick at the hospital, no money to settle the hospital bill. I don’t have any relative or friends in Ganta, everyday system down at LBDI,” Thelma George lamented.
Speaking on the same issue in Ganta, Mother Quaqua frowned at the management, describing the issue as a deliberate attempt to fool customers to deny them of accessing their various accounts.
“How bank system will be down for more than three days without management doing anything about it?” she quizzed.
LBDI is among the leading commercial banks in Ganta that has a good number of customers from as far as the Southeast to nearby Guinea and Ivory Coast, but alleged poor internet system is hampering the smooth running of the bank in Ganta, Nimba County.
During a normal routine at the bank on February 6 and 7 at about 11:45 am, many customers were sitting in long queues while others were out waiting at the bank compound.
Speaking at the compound of the bank in Ganta, an AFL officer confirmed being stranded in Ganta due to the poor internet system at LBDI.
“I been in Ganta two days to get money at LBDI, but system has been down and I don’t have money to pay my rent at the guest house or go back to Gbarnga,” the AFL Officer lamented.
“As for me, I am a health worker assigned in Zwedru; I have been stranded in Ganta two days now because of ‘system down,'” Hellen Padmore disclosed.
