By Gideon Nma Scott, Jr.
The Managing Editor of the Inquirer Newspaper, who is otherwise referred as the journalistic switch by some of her colleagues, has reported that in 2023, the Paper reported and published over 3,000 stories, including 2,579 national stories, 376 international stories, 547 sports stories, as well as dozens of articles, short stories, commentaries, and documentaries.
“We were able to accomplish this because of the collective efforts that we all exerted and the courage and commitment we place on our respective roles,” Madam Saywah-Jimmy observed.
She spoke on December 28, 2023 when the staff gathered at the Inquirer’s head offices on Gurley and Benson Streets intersections to plan its 34th Anniversary that comes up on January 15, 2024.
Madam Saywah-Jimmy praised the staff for being exceptional in the discharge of their journalistic duties in 2023, and called on them to be more alert; thereby, keeping the spirit of the professionalism, ethics, and media credibility well alive.
“We must be alert, objective, and maintain our individual and institutional credibility as we cover and report on the shortfalls and gains of the incoming government. We will let ourselves to be deceived or be carried away by the noise on the street. I can assure that we will not put our bellies in the wheel barrow or lay our reputation in the streets. We will do our work and maintain the image that Mr. Wesseh and all those who have passed through these walls have fought for,” she stressed.
