President George Weah has departed Liberia for Dubai, The United Arab Emirates to attend the Climate Conference.

The Liberian Leader departed the country early afternoon hours yesterday, flanked by his wife, Clar Marie Weah, and accompanied by a hand full of government officials, to include Defense Minister, Daniel K. Ziakahn; Economic Advisor, Emmanuel Shaw, and the Executive Director of the Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE), Pepci Quiwu Yeke, among others.

President Weah, who is expected to speak on Saturday at the global stage, will join scores of other world leaders, business and finance executives, and representatives of Civil Society Organizations from nearly two hundred countries.

The conference, which will officially commence on November 30, 2023, will end on December 12, 2023.

The strategic gathering’s aim, among others things, is the fast-tracking of the transition to a clean-energy future.

Delegates in Dubai, over the next two weeks, are expected to drill down into the data that illuminates corporate progress toward global climate goals, pathways for transition finance, biodiversity, the phase-out of coal-fired power, the greening of private assets, the evolution of carbon markets, and the emergence of resilience alongside carbon cutting as a theme for investment.

It is also expected to stress the importance of collective action to stop climate change and the critical role of finance in the low-carbon transition.

At the end of the conference, organizers hope that the outcome of the global gathering will help investors and other capital markets see what’s ahead and back climate commitments with action.

It can be recalled that the Liberian leader, at the same gathering a year ago, highlighted the need for collective efforts and action in order to battle the challenges faced by the globe.

He also emphasized the need for more support to be given to countries in order to tackle the global issue.

Ahead of his presentation, it is expected that he will, among other things, re-echo his previous statements with statistical backings, as a means of reinforcing said issue for the benefit of the global village.
