President George Manneh Weah has departed the country for an international week-long engagement.
The engagement provides an important opportunity for the international community to gather political consensus, enhance unity and cooperation, and join hands in challenging the future.
President Weah and his team left the country, Thursday, September 14, 2023, via the Roberts International Airport (RIA), and are expected to stop in Ghana, before heading to the United States of America to attend the 78th UN General Assembly.
The gathering, which is an annual event, usually brings together world leaders to discuss global issues that affects UN countries, with key focus on Africa.
This year’s conference will be highlighted on Earthquakes, Poverty, and Security, with a global theme that reflects humanity.
The conference will officially run from Monday, September 18 to Sunday, September 24, with The President of the United States, Joe Biden, as first speaker, while President Weah will present Liberia’s case as second speaker.
Some of the delegates that traveled along with the President include the Minister of National Defense, Daniel Ziankan; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dee- Maxwell Kemayah; Minister of Youth and Sports, D. Meanwhile, a very huge delegation is expected to accompany the Liberian leader to the United Nations General Assembly, which officially opens on September 18, 2023.
The world leaders’ discussion will focus on multi-dimensional global issues such as security, peace, and the economy, as well as many other conditions confronting their respective countries.
