By Grace Q. Bryant

The Monrovia City Court has arrested the CEO and Managing Partner for Crowe Liberia, Olandor Boyce, for allegedly kidnapping three children to Ghana.

“You are hereby commanded to arrest the living body of defendant, Olandor Boyce, before the Monrovia City Court, to answer the charge of

Kidnapping, based on complaint filed by Weemon Jallahcole, in which it is substantially alleged, as follows to wit, that during August 7, 2023 in the City of Monrovia, the defendant, with the criminal and wicked intent to create a substantial risk of serious bodily injury, assaulted the accuser, after she inquired about her three minor children, in persons of Mathias Olanmon Boyce, 16 years; Treasure Orlyne Boyce, 11 years and Milton OJ Boyce, 8 years, also of the City of Brewerville, after the defendant took them away  to the Republic of Ghana, under the impression of taking them for a vacation, without the knowledge and consent of the Mother,” the writ reads.

The court maintained that the alleged act of the defendant being unlawful, wicked, illegal, and intentional, is in violation of sections 14.50 of the New Penal Law of Liberia, there and then crimes herein, defendant did do and commit.

According to the complainant, Madam Jallahcole, “On Thursday, August 3, at around 1pm, I saw on my oldest son’s Facebook page, some photos and videos of them at the department terminal at the Roberts International Airport, indicating they were travelling. I tried calling but his number was unavailable; his dad’s phone was ringing but he wasn’t picking, so I thought to wait and see if he (the father) would give details, but I didn’t hear from him till I slept off,” she explained.

“Around 12 midnight, I woke up to attend to nature and reached my phone, and saw a text from my children’s father, almost at midnight, informing me that he’s taking the children to Ghana for a two-week vacation. So I was skeptical as to why he would wait for the children to arrive in Ghana before communicating with me,” she expressed.

She furthered, “It was already Friday, August 4, around 12. Later that afternoon, around 1pm, I saw the man in front of UMU. How can he say he’s taking the children to Ghana when they’re already there while he’s here? I tried reaching my children online and asked them who took them to Ghana, but they both didn’t respond till yesterday, after 3 days.”

“I became afraid because I couldn’t hear from my children, so I told my lawyer that I wanted legal remedy. Let Mr. Boyce account for my children, as to whom he entrusted then with. My counsel called him and he lied that he took the children to Ghana himself, after I spotted him in town on Friday and another person told me they saw him on Sunday. This was scaring,” she noted.

She said, “I decided to prove that he’s in town. While going to the court to file my complaint, I saw his car parked at his office and decided to check. He was there and told the receptionist that he’s not expecting me. Upon hearing that, I entered his office and told him to account for my 4 children. Why did he send them away with another person without my knowledge and consent? He asked me out of his office, that he’s not expecting me, so I took my phone to snap a photograph of him to prove that’s he’s in the country, but he snapped and assaulted me in front of his office staff.”

She continued, “I ran to the court to file a complaint, while he ran to the police women and children section to file a complaint against me for doing an unauthorized video recording in his office.”

She added, “A writ of arrest was issued yesterday around 3pm and they said it was late to effect the arrest. This morning we embarked on going to serve and the court officer placed a call to him on his whereabouts. He lied that he’s in Firestone and would be in town by 2pm. I told them he was lying again so we should go to his office. He saw my car and decided to escape, so we put up a chase after him for more than 20 minutes, running around the Sinkor Belt, and finally managed to cross in front of his car by the grace of God, and he was arrested.”

After his charges were read, he signed a criminal appearance bond, before the case was adjourned to Wednesday, August 9, 2023, by 12 noon.
