Government says it has procured 115 motorbikes and other equipment for distribution to all District Education Officers (DEO) nationwide, and it is intended to ease the DEOs’ transportation impediment in doing their work for years now.
It stated, among many things, that those bikes and other equipment are already in the country and shall be distributed any moment from now to all district educational officers in the counties.
Education Minister, Dao Ansu Sonii, told the meeting attended by scores of DEOs recently in Sinje, Grand Cape Mount County, that the increase of support to DEOs is for monitoring and supervision of schools across their county in particular, and the country in general.
He said the supply of needed logistics to the District Education Officers (DEOs) will help to enhance the monitoring and supervision capacities of various public schools.
Sonii stated that the government will continue its commitment and support to the transformation of the Education Sector and Liberia at large.
He cautioned the District Education Officers (DEOs) to use the bikes for their intended purpose and ride safely and stay alive.
The Education Minister reiterated that the distribution of motorbikes and other equipment will enhance the efficient supervision and oversight of DEOs in the discharge of their respective responsibilities.
The procurement and planned distribution of over 100 motorbikes to DEOs nationwide shall be a huge relief, and could go a long way in helping them do the work for which they were employed and assigned in those counties.
This is not the first time that government is making a donation to those implementing the educational policy of the country.
The first of such was in February, 2022, when dozens of vehicles and motorbikes were given to County Education Officers (CEO) and District Education Officers (DEO).
