The Chairperson of Lofa County Sports Steering Committee, Momo Cyrus, has begun rallying support for teams representing the county in the 2023 edition of the Liberia Football Association’s (LFA) National third division promotional playoff.
Cyrus, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the Security Experts Guard (SEGAL) and a lover and supporter of sports in different sectors of the country for remarkable numbers of year, is rallying residents of Lofa to give maximum support to the two clubs that have qualified from the county to play in this year’s LFA National Third Division League.
Wologisi FC of Voinjama and Gompa United FC of Zorzor are the teams qualified as champions and runners-up from Lofa to play in the National Third Division League playoff in Montserrado County.
Cyrus said he strongly believes that with Lofaians landing moral and financial support to the two clubs, the county is capable of getting a club in the second division during the next football season.
The passionate sports supporter and promoter in Lofa said the county’s growing status in sports will accelerate with Lofa producing a second division team.
He said with plans underway to construct artificial turf stadium in Voinjama City by the Liberian FA, it is only important for the county to produce a second division club of its own that will utilize the facility when completed.
He wants Lofaians to see the need to support the two clubs to reach the national second division and used the time to appeal to sons and daughters of Lofa County especially in Monrovia to visit the camps of the two clubs to render assistance in whatever way they can as a form of motivation.
Gompa United Football Club will be in action on Friday May 26, 2023 against Montserado Champion Pepper Football Club at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium on Lynch Street while Wologisi Football Club will begin their portion of the struggle for qualification on Saturday May 27, 2023 against Future Bright Stars of Bong County at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex practice pitch in Paynesville.
