Police in Gbarnga has charged and sent Lorpu Keselee, aged 36, for allegedly killing her two day-old baby in the Sugar Hill Community in Gbarnga, Bong County.
According to the Liberia National Police Bong County Detachment, on May 5, 2023, the mother buried the child alive in the community.
The Police Commander, Fasu V. Sheriff, told journalists that suspect Keselee was arrested on May 7, 2023, by officers following a call from community dwellers and some local authorities of the community.
The Police Commander revealed that the LNP independent investigation couple with eyewitnesses’ narratives has so far established that the victim was allegedly assaulted before being murdered.
Commander Sheriff said the defendant told police investigators that she killed the child because the child’s father disowned the child’s pregnancy, adding that during the pregnancy she suffered therefore she cannot continue suffering after giving birth.
Meanwhile, the alleged murderer has been charged by the LNP with Murder under Section 14. 1 of the New Panel Law of Liberia and forwarded her to the 9th Judiciary Circuit Court by the Crime Services Division.
In another development, the Bong County Detachment has launched a massive search into the death of a 12-year-old child in the Totota Salala District 6, Lower Bong County.
The lifeless body of the 12-year child was discovered in a bush in Totota on Wednesday night May 10, 2023.
Little Jerry Kollie was staying with a woman identified as Fatu at the Desayeah Junction in Totota, but went missing last week and was not found until late Wednesday evening when his decaying corpse was discovered by a resident in the area.
At the same time, family members are demanding a speedy investigation into the death of little Jerry Kollie and stage a protest in demand of the cause of the child’s death.
