Conex Liberia Observes World Safety And Health Day

Conex Energy Liberia has given assurance that it will embark on refining petroleum product in the country this year in an effort to boost and increase petroleum product quality in the country.
The company’s Chief Administrative Officer, T Nelson Williams said all is now set and that they have procured and established the refinery that will enable the company begin processing which when birthed is said to be the first of its kind since the end of the 14 years of Civil unrest in Liberia.
He made the disclosure Friday, April 28, 2023 at a program marking the celebration of World Day for Safety organized by the Conex Energy Liberia for their workers, partners, customers and dealers, among others in Monrovia.
Additionally, the organized occasion was intended to bring more awareness to safety in the work place in the oil and gas industry especially the manufacturing sector of the country.
According to him, aside from the Conex refinery, they also have logistics company that is involved with transporting products around the country including neighboring Sierra Leone.
He explained that the company which is formerly TOTAL Liberia has been around since 2005 and is mainly known for its retail dealing through gas stations in both Liberia and Sierra Leone with different branches from the importation to the storage.
“We are prepared because we do have stations around 10 of the 15 counties namely Margibi, Grand Bassa, Bomi, Nimba, Lofa and list goes on. And we also planned on expanding our services to other far to reach counties,” he asserted.
In term of service delivery, Mr. Williams further assured the country of good customer service, quality products, integrity, and well-trained staff which he said will be professional in their trade and services.
For investment, the Conex CEO put the investment cost by the company at a little over US$60 million based on the realization that in the petroleum sector, which has foreign firms noting that though that it was an investment for Liberia, it has a proven track record of an investment friendly environment.
Meanwhile, Mr. Williams who boasted of his company being a Liberian-own company with foreign presence in Sierra Leone disclosed that as things stands, they are now at about 75 percent of Liberians being within their employed.
“And what we are now doing is that we are using the few foreigners to train our Liberian employees and in the coming days, we will transition to have in our employ 100 percent Liberians,” he assured.
“And for gender issues, we are working to ensure gender balance because 70 percent of our staff are males while 30 are females and we believe that it is not too ok but will address that in the coming days or so,” he added.
