The Sports department of the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS) is hosting the inaugural edition of its Annual Sports Tournament called the Superintendent Trophy for high schools across Montserrado.
The competition was launched recently by MCSS Superintendent, Professor Isaac Saye-Lakpoh Zawolo. It is intended to promote sportsmanship for Liberian students and ease mental tension that could be developed from stressful and longtime studies.
Speaking during the launch of the event Superintendent Zawolo lauded the effort of the Sports department for undertaking project that will positively affect the students community every by giving them relief from research among others.
Prof. Zawolo called on students to be very obedient during this tournament, adding that the system is looking for funding to ensure that other sports activities be part of next year events.
Also speaking during the launching ceremony the Director of sports of the Monrovia Consolidated School System, Mr. Murvee Gray said this year the tournament will future football and Kickball component due to low funding.
According to Gray the venue for all matches remains set to take place at the Williams V. S Tubman high School in Sinkor. The competition started last weekend and is expected to run for a period of nearly one month among the 24 schools within the MCSS system.
