The Bong County Chapter of the National Muslim Council of Liberia has lauded George M. Weah for his many donations to the Muslim Community since his ascendancy as President of Liberia.

The Bong County Chapter’s Chairperson, Alhaji Abu Siakor, said since 2018 up to present, the Weah-led government has provided over 2, 000 bags of 25kg rice and over L$ 2 million to the Community, especially during the month of Ramadan.

Chairman Siakor described Weah as President for all; Muslims or non-Muslims adding that though President Weah is a Christian, his leadership role played in the Muslim Community cannot go unnoticed.

“Our President has been very supportive to our community especially when it comes to Ramadan and Hajj. The Hajj is an annual Muslim pilgrimage for Muslims to visit the Holy City, Mecca, Saudi  Arabia, ” he revealed.

Chairman Siakor further revealed that Liberian Muslims have not participated for the past few years in the Hajj pilgrimage due to the COVID situation.

“Now that the COVID has subsided a bit, we hope that President Weah will support us for this pending annual event,” he said.

The Muslim Community’s boss said President Weah’s intervention has been very timely every time Muslims gather to pray for the nation.

Mr. Siakor said Allah has declared that it is important to appreciate the kind gesture of people noting, “We must appreciate the President for this wonderful gesture. We as Muslims are under an obligation to always pray for the nation.”

He said they were happy to receive seven cows, over 300 bags of 25kg rice, and L$ 220, 000 for this month of Ramadan.

Every year, about this time, Muslims across the length and breadth of Liberia join other Muslims around the world to observe the Holy month of Ramadan in seeking Allah’s blessings upon their lives. This is the time they offer fast prayers for His guidance upon their families and seek His forgiveness.

He made the statement on Thursday, April 20, 2023, in Gbarnga, when Bong County Superintendent Esther Y. Walker presented seven cows to the Muslim community on behalf of President Weah ahead of the closing ceremony of the Muslim Holy Month of Ramadan.
