The president of the Bong County Technical College (BCTC), Roland C. Massaquoi, has lauded the Government of Liberia for its continued support toward the completion of the college facility through budgetary allotment in the county.
Dr. Massauoi said the government of President George M. Weah has been very supportive to the Bong County Technical College since its inception in 2018.
The president of the Bong County Technical College further acknowledged receiving US$900,000 from last year’s National Budget as a portion of the college completion fund in the County.
“The money was a portion of the Government of Liberia’s estimated US$ 3.2 million intended for the full completion of the central Liberia-only public higher learning institution,” president Massaqoui noted.
Additionally, the Bong County Technical College president revealed that the Government of Liberia through its 2023 National budget has been able to allot US$ 5, 000 for the college.
He stressed an urgent need for the completion of the BCTC, calling on the county authority to see the college’s completion as a priority as they anticipate another council sitting.
The Bong Technical College was established in 2010 by law for the sole purpose of educating aspiring students in disciplines that are technical and skill oriented.
The college is accredited by the National Commission on Higher Education to offer undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Agriculture Technology, Science Education, and Nursing.
The college opened its doors to students on November 18, 2013, and has since provided services to qualified students from around the country.
He placed the current enrollment of the college to over 1, 005 students.
Dr. Roland Massaquoi made the statement recently on the campus of the college when the National Lottery Authority provided over US$ 600 as registration fees for nine disabled students at the BCTC.
The Bong County Technical College president at the same time extended commendation to the National Lottery Authority for identifying with disabled students at his institution.
During the 2017 Representative and Presidential elections, Liberia’s President then Presidential candidate George Weah promised to complete the Bong County Technical College upon election and four years after his election, the President seems to now be making good on his promise after years of protests by students of the college calling on him to help complete the college.
