Education, Engineering, Business Colleges Win Founder’s Day Tournament At UL

The A. Romeo Horton College of Business and Public Administration, College of Engineering, and the College of Education have emerged victorious in different categories of the University of Liberia (UL) 72nd Founder’s Day Sports activities.
The inter-college sports matches included Football, Basketball, and Kickball categories on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.
The sporting events climaxed a three-day celebration of the UL 72nd Founder’s Day which kicked off on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
In the Football category which ended in penalty kicks, the College of Education won in the final stage with five goals against the Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities which had four goals.
The College of Engineering also won in the final stage for the Basketball category with 23 points against the College of Education which had 21 points.
The A. Romeo Horton College of Business and Public Administration won the Kickball category with 11 home runs against the David A. Stratz-Sinje College of Vocational and Technical Education which had a zero home run.
The UL 72nd Founder’s Day sports events began with a parade outside the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex with the President of the University of Liberia, Prof. Dr. Julius Julukon Sarwolo Nelson, Jr., along with the chairman of the planning committee of the UL 72nd Founder’s Day celebration, Prof. Sekou W. Konneh in the parade and later led the kickoff of the sports match.
The University of Liberia began the three-day celebration on Wednesday, February 15 in observance of the day of its founding on February 15, 1951, otherwise known as ‘UL Founder’s Day.’
The UL 72nd Founder’s Day was celebrated under the theme: “Sustaining Governance, Democracy, Peace, and Stability in Liberia.”
Earlier in the evening on Wednesday, a small musical concert was led by the UL Chorus, and an intellectual discourse was also held on UL Capitol Hill campus on Thursday as part of the three-day celebration.
