A young Liberian woman just passed away. She graduated from Cuttington University ten years ago with a BSc. degree in Management. Four days ago, Cuttington University inducted its first female President into office. Up to the passing away of the young female Cuttington graduate, she could not land employment with any entity. She could not land employment because her spirituality convinced her not to go to pursue the physicality by going to bed with someone.

At this time when Liberia needs good managers, another good Liberian manager has passed away. Preferring not to sleep with anyone, the Cuttington female graduate chose an LD7,000 a month job that was available. Spirituality above physicality! Morality over immorality! This Liberian young woman refused to exchange sex for employment, There are other Liberian women and girls, men and boys who are exchanging sex for employment and exchanging sex for grades. What a shame!

This is not only shameful but it is most unfortunate. It is most unfortunate because foreigners are not only dominating the highly paid job market but they are also dominating the ownership and influencing the ballot box. Witness how such a shameful and unfortunate situation co-exists with Liberian National Legislators having access to at least LD150,000 a day and their foreign partners, in the commercial sector alone, have access to at least LD300,000,000 a day while nearly all Liberians have access to at most less than LD300 a day (Annual Reports of CBL, LISGIS, MFDP, MCI, WB, IMF, ADB and UNDP).

How can this shameful and unfortunate situation be stopped now? It can be stopped now through the raising of awareness in ways that motivate people to work together through the Rule of Law to transform the UNFAIR electoral system into the FAIR electoral system. It is only through this transformation that persons with good records can be elected. Some people think that this method is not working well, But please listen to this. It is is working well. Witness how the National Legislators of the 52nd and 53rd Legislatures who wanted to be reelected were not reelected because of the ongoing awareness raising. It is highly likely that persons seeking reelection and election will not be reelected and elected in the upcoming elections.

The raising of awareness option remains the only option because it is at once non-violent and just. The people of Liberia, with their experience in the Coup D’etat and the Civil War, have concluded that they prefer Peace to War, as heard in their chant: We Want Peace! No More War! Let us promote Justice for all because Justice is the only ingredient for Peace and Progress, where there will be Spirituality Above Physicality and Morality Above Immorality.
