The interim leadership of Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY) says with support from government and development partners, there will be a peaceful congress to halt the ongoing impasse that is gravely affecting the organization.
FLY’s former president, Augustine Tamba, who is also chairing the interim team told the media last Friday in Monrovia that a Special General Assembly will be held in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County under the theme, “Reinforcing the Youth Agenda-Continuing the journey in Unity.”
He said they have developed a timeline for the special 7th General Assembly and that the official opening of electioneering activities will begin with the appointment of a committee to vet its permanent Secretariat.
“We are pleased to make the following appointments to the vetting committee and the Independent Election Commission,” he announced.
Tamba named the vetting committee members to include, Melvin Sarh-Chairperson; Attorney Victor Howard and Mustapha Z. Sherman as Ex-officials.
Tamba named the interim team members as Thomas Mulbah as Chairperson; Kula V. Fofana, member, and Gabriel Saydee, member respectively.
“As you may recall, on May 12, 2022, the Board of Directors of the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY) along with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in line with the Federation’s Constitution and By-laws appointed a three-person interim leadership,” he explained.
He said this leadership was appointed after the last leadership tenure expired consistent with the constitution and bylaws.
“Let me hasten to inform you that our responsibility is to ensure the conduct of free, fair and transparent elections for a new corps of officers to steer the affairs of FLY for the next three years,” Tamba assured.
