Transport Sub-office In Ganta Is Deplorable

By Solomon T. Gaye Sr.

The Ministry of Transport’s sub office situated near the main border in Ganta, is getting dilapidated by the day and confronted with imminent desertion in Nimba County.
Accordingly, the government’s building which is responsible to generate government’s revenue is in ruins due to the alleged failure of the MOT authorities to rehabilitate it.
The MOT sub office was constructed during former President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf’s regime in order to strengthen the decentralization of the government’s functionaries in leeward counties respectively.
Since the beginning of 2021, the Motorcycles Union has taken over from the MOT sub office in the issuance of motorbike’s plates and stickers; thereby generating huge amount of money in the guise of registrations of motorbikes under the watchful eyes of the MOT and the LNP authorities in the county.
Nimba has nine electoral districts with more than 15, 000 motorcyclists who sustain themselves by transporting commuters to other areas in the county.
