The Right And Rice Foundation has embarked on a WFP, UNDP, UN Women and United Nations Peace building fund sponsored project aimed at conducting leadership, advocacy and public speaking training for several community women in Nimba County.
Speaking to participants during the first phase of the training held in Ganta for about 30 women, Right and Rice Foundation trainer, Joseph Ballah, urged participants to get involved in education geared toward women participations in political leadership, advocacy against gender violations that are against women in communities, towns and villages in the county.
The program which was held at the Women Peace Hut on Guinea in Bain Garr District, Nimba County was designed to promote women’s participation in political leadership, advocacy geared toward creating awareness about violations of women’s right across the country.
Mr. Ballah emphasized that the training if completed in the 15 counties will help strengthen community-based structures which include CLDMC, peace huts, and women-led structures for effective engagement on leadership, advocacy and advocacy speaking.
The Ganta training which was chaired by Alice Allison from the Harper Peace Hut in Maryland County and she called on the organizers to extend the program in the 15 counties to help women know their rights regarding women’s participations in political decision-making in the country.
According to her, she will make sure to put into practice lessons learned from the workshop in Nimba.
Also speaking during event, Ganta Peace Hut Chairlady Yah Dahn thanked the organizers of the program for bringing together women to learn about leadership geared toward women’s participation in political leadership, advocacy and public speaking in the county.
According to Chairlady Dahn the training of the 30 participants will help increase women’s participation in leadership decision-making and advocacy against the violations of women in the country.
Speaking to this paper after the closing of the program in Ganta, many of the participants expressed happiness that the training will help promote women’s participation in political decision-making and advocacy coupled with public speaking.
Meanwhile, the second phase of the training is expected to kick off in Sanniquellie tomorrow, March 24, 2022.
