5 Juveniles Arrested For Prostitution In River Gee

Five minors believe to be living together have been arrested and placed into police custody along with their landlord while awaiting court appearance for allegedly practicing ‘prostitution’ in Fishtown, River Gee County.
Quoting state-owned radio, ELBC, the defendants all tenets of a room and their landlord were arrested last weekend and are expected to be arraigned before the court on or before this Friday in the county.
According to the report, the teens have allegedly admitted the police their involvement in such trade leaving it to the economic hardship faced by their parents or guardians and that the only alternative they have is to engage into “prostitution” to earn money while serving as bread-winners for their families.
The report said the teens had all been occupants of a single bedroom in the house located on the outskirt of Fishtown for almost a year now while carrying on their trade until they were arrested last week.
However, the news of teens trading ‘sex for money’ in that part of the country seems to have astonished many residents in Fishtown as their parents and or guardians have begun receiving lashes for allowing their children to engage in such activity.
Prostitution is forbidden under the Liberian law and same is punishable for whatever means it is committed, however, prostitution, globally is the oldest profession practiced since creation.
Unlike Liberia, many countries like South Africa, Ivory Coast as well as western nations including but limited to France, Netherlands have legalized prostitution where those in such trade are licensed by government thus making them to be taxpayers.
