The Liberia National Fire Service detachment in Nimba County has graduated 45 trained fire service personnel in the county.
Speaking in Sanniquellie, Commander Terry Mahn explained that the 45 graduate were trained in various fire related disciplines.
According to Commander Mahn, the 45 trained men have been assigned in the headquarters of the six districts of the county to work with the local authorities in creating awareness on fire prevention and fire management in the wake of increased fire incidents in the country.
“There are officers assigned on the truck to respond to any fire incident, but we need the cooperation of the residents by providing fuel to maintain the truck,” Commander Mahn pointed out.
“Since the donation of the fire truck by businessman Floyd Tomah, there has been no support except the donor who is providing fuel to run the fire engine,” LNFS Mahn revealed.
Nimba is among the 15 counties of Liberia that now boasts of a fire truck, yet it’s among counties with high reports of fire incidents or fire related issues that have left several persons homeless.
Since the beginning of July 2024, two gas stations including an eight-bedroom house were gutted by fire respectively.
“We want to take this time to clarify to the public that the fire truck is filled with water and has readily assigned operators,” commander Mahn boasted.
