The reigning champions of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) national leagues are currently floating in defeat following two matchdays played from the star of the 2024/2025 league season.
The nation’s topflight kicked off last week across the country with a sense of fascination for some clubs but presented a struggling time for Watanga Football Club who are the champions of the first division and Blackman Warriors Football Club who are the champions of the second division in the first two round of matches.
The two national champions are without a taste of celebration from the start of the season. On the opening day, both Watanga and the Warriors lost to two separate opponents.
The tarry for celebration was again postponed at the conclusion of the second matches because their opposing side-maintained victories over them at the end of fulltime regulations.
However, they both are still thirsty of officially joining the title campaign of winning teams during the upcoming weekend matchday in the separate fixtures.
On Friday, October 25, 2024 the reigning first division champions, Watanga, under the guidance of Coach Cooper Sannon, will play host to the Oilers of the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company (LPRC).
The evening fixture playing at the Two United Sports Association (TUSA) field will see Oilers pushing efforts to extend their unbeaten run while pointless, will seek to find an end to their winless run in this season.
Watanga has initially lost to LISCR football Club and Discoveries Sports Academy at the start of the season.
Simultaneously that Friday, debutant Blackman Warriors, reigning champs of the second division will also face Freeport FC at the D. Tweh pitch in the Borrough of Kru Town.
On the current log of the league, the boys from the Port are three points better than their next rounds opponents in the competition.
