The United Bong County Association in the Americas (UBCAA) has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Health Sciences Department of Bong County Technical College (BCTC).
The UBCAA is a community-based non-profit tax-exempt organization that provides skills-building opportunities for youth and girls and support to persons with a disability and special needs in the community.
The PPE items donated include nose masks, gloves, face shields, goggles, and protective gowns, among others, to help support health science education and training.
Speaking at the event, Reuben Dolo, Acting Country Director of UBCAA, said the donation is part of the organization’s effort to support government-run institutions, especially those in the health sector.
He said the PPE will help strengthen the department’s ability to provide quality healthcare education to students.
Mr. Dolo said the United Bong County Association in the Americas is a conglomeration of Bong County citizens from across the United States who are immensely contributing to the rebuilding process of Bong County through community assistance and buttressing the government’s efforts in developing Liberia.
The UBCAA Acting Country Director to Liberia further told the administration of the BCTC that the donation is the group’s initial support in helping to address some of the needs of the students at the BCTC Health Sciences Department.
Moreover, BCTC President Alfredsson Tikerweya, Vice president for Academic Affairs James K. Saybay, and Head of the Health Sciences Department, Folo Siakor thanked UBCAA for the timely donation.
They said the materials are greatly needed and will be used to improve practical training for students.
The college officials also use the occasion to call on other organizations to follow UBCAA’s example and help support the institution.
“This donation will help to boost the Health Sciences Department’s efforts to train better healthcare professionals for the future,” the BCTC Administration added.
The donation ceremony was held at the college’s main campus in Gbarnga on April 28, 2025.
