The leadership of the True Whig Party has extended their heartfelt congratulations to President Joseph Boakal’s administration for a successful election to a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the term starting from 2026-2027.
The party, in its release issued yesterday, June 5, 2025, said the achievement is a testament to the International Community’s recognition of Liberia’s steadfast commitment to peace, multilateralism, and global cooperation.
According to the party, the election also reflects not only Liberia’s growing influence on the world stage but also the trust and confidence that fellow member states have placed in the leadership of the country’s governing system, diplomatic principles, and constructive engagement in international affairs.
The party maintained, “As a member of the Security Council, Liberia will have a vital role in addressing the most pressing global security challenges from conflict resolution and peacekeeping to the promotion of international law and the protection of human rights.”
“We are confident that our voice as a country will bring valuable perspectives to the council’s deliberations and that Liberia’s tenure will contribute meaningfully to advancing global peace and security.
“We commend the tireless efforts of our diplomats, policymakers, and representatives who made this accomplishment possible. May the time of our country’s presence on the Security Council be marked by wisdom, courage, understanding, and steadfastness,” the release asserted.
The party added, “Once again, congratulations on this remarkable milestone. Long live the Government and People of Liberia.”
