The Student Unification Party (SUP), Chairman on Social Culture, Prince B. Gbatoe’s home was recently vandalized by some alleged members of the party who are calling for the unlawful and constitutional removal of the current Chairman of the party.
Mr. Gbatoe explained that his home was first attacked on Monday, September 2, by the group he described as behaving like Zogoes rather than students shouting battle cries and vowing to kill him should they get hold of him; he then fled his home for his dear life but the alleged students returned on Tuesday to complete destroying everything in his home.
According to him, everything he had was damaged; besides he hardly sleeps home for fear of being further attacked and killed by the gangsters who call themselves students and is therefore asking for help to secure his life because he is indeed in a precarious situation.
He believes strongly that the action of the group was allegedly backed and financed by very powerful people from the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change, because it was unusual for students to leave the campus and attack another student at his home for students’ issues.
Giving reasons for his inference and insinuation, Gbatoe narrated that recently during the senior class elections of UL, a guy who works in the Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee’s office identified as Pekelee Gbuapay came to SUP to contest in the elections even though he is not a member of the party.
He stated that when Gbuapay was rejected by the highest decision making body of the party he (Gbuapay) started drawing some officials of the party using his financial power, one which was Mohammed Deybo who is Co-Chair for Party Affairs.
Gbatoe added that after Gbuapay lost the elections he allegedly unleashed his anger on the party through his close confident Mohammed Dybo to plot the removal or expulsion of the party’s chairman on grounds that the chairman was not running the party well.
He also mentioned that because he is one of those who is against the Chairman’s unconstitutional removal and a close friend of the Chairman that is why Mohammed Deybo supporters believed to be backed by Pekelee Gbuapay from the Mayor’s office burglarized his home.
Additionally, Mr. Gbatoe who said he is one of the survivors of the accident in which Rep. Adolf Lawrence was killed noted that because they are very critical of the government and supporters of the Weah Step-Down Campaign they have been categorized by some officials of government as enemies of the state.
