When this paper contacted the Police station in Sanniquellie over the weekend, the Criminal Investigation Department disclosed that five Segal officers were indeed arrested for an alleged stealing of copper wires and steel rods from the Afcons company facility in Yekepa.
According to Police, the copper wires are valued at US$76,000, with the value of the rods placed at US$4,000.
According to the city solicitor assigned at the magisterial court in Sanniquellie, the case is above the jurisdiction of the court, therefore it was transferred to the 8th Judiciary Circuit Court, with the culprits sent to the central prison in Sanniquellie, pending court trial.
When this paper contacted Nimba County Attorney at the 8th Judiciary Circuit in Sanniquellie, John Miah, he confirmed the detention of the five security guards assigned with Afcons at the Sanniquellie Central Prison.
“The five Segal officers are behind bars until they secure a proper bond; if not, they will remain behind bars until the case is ready,” Miah disclosed.
Segal is among the security firms contracted by Afcons to guard the ArcelorMittal railroad and other Afcons facilities near Yekepa.
