Senator Johnson Demands US$9Million From Government

By Solomon T Gaye

Nimba lawmaker, Senator Prince Yormie Johnson, is demanding the government of Liberia to pay the sum of US$9 of the County Social Development Funds, credited by the government of Liberia.

According to Senator Johnson, the money forms part of the social county development funds released by Arcellormittal Liberia.

“President George Weah is using the social development funds to campaign against opposition political parties in the pending October 10, 2023 presidential and representative elections,” Senator Johnson disclosed.

Speaking to this paper via mobile phone, the senator frowns at President Weah for the buses donated to Nimba school system in the name of CDC.

Speaking on the same issue in an exclusive interview via mobile phone to our correspondent, Senator Johnson boasted that Unity Party will beat CDC in the upcoming election in the nine electoral districts in Nimba County.

“These buses are belated, politically motivated, and designed to campaign against Unity Party and other opposition political parties bidding to unseat the president,” the senator acknowledged.

Since the beginning of 2023, the relationship among the Unity Party partisans, supporters, and sympathizers working with the government assigned in the county is getting worse, due to the pending elections.

Senator Johnson, during Boakai’s visit to the county, boasted that he will make sure to campaign against CDC in favor of UP in the nine electoral districts in the county, for selecting senator Koung as running mate in said elections.

Since last year, many of the government projects undertaken by the county administrations are on standstill for lack of operational funds from the government.

All efforts to contact CDC county chairman, Reginald Mehn, to verify these claims, proved futile.
