Ahead of the 2029 general elections in Liberia, the Director of Rural Seaports has declared his intention to contest the Representative seat of Maryland County, District One. He aims to replace Representative P. Mike Jurry, who is currently serving his second term.

Mr. Dediomon J. Cooper, a prominent figure in Maryland County and a high-profile official at the Freeport of Liberia, has announced his intention to run in the 2029 elections.
He made the disclosure during an intellectual discussion held on June 6, 2025, at the Pleebo Attayee Forum in Pleebo, Zone 6, Maryland County.

Moreover, Mr. Cooper promised Marylanders at the forum that he would establish a local zinc manufacturing factory in Harper. This initiative is intended to help residents build affordable homes and empower businesses within the supply chain.

According to him, the zinc manufacturing process will commence in 2026 and will be accompanied by the production of rubber-based items such as buckets, dishes, and other materials.
Furthermore, Mr. Cooper expressed concern that poverty has aged many residents in the county prematurely due to the lack of job opportunities, forcing some to become beggars in their own communities.

He emphasized that the zinc products will be sold to dealers, who will then distribute them to other counties in the southeastern region.
He stated that these upcoming initiatives would serve as tangible evidence of his commitment and are sufficient reasons for the people to elect him as their representative under the banner of the National Patriotic Party.

Mr. Cooper also noted that no development efforts in Harper District would be successful without the support of voters in Pleebo. He highlighted the dire unemployment faced by the youth population.
In his closing remarks, he pledged to provide one million Liberian dollars to support marketers, aiming to boost the economic growth of local businesses.
