Preserving A Legacy For Female Journalists

ON FRIDAY, APRIL 19, 2024, the Managing Editor of the Inquirer Newspaper, Christiana Winnie Saywah-Jimmy was awarded a certificate of appreciation in recognition of her journalistic work by the Musa Bility School of Professional Journalism (MBSPJ).

THE RECOGNITION, THE School’s CEO Christopher Selee said comes as a result of the Inquirer boss’ tireless efforts in promoting press freedom, ethical journalism, and the advancement of women in the Liberian media.

MADAM SAYWAH-JIMMY who has been at the Inquirer Newspaper for over two decades and being no stranger to accolades due to her work, has been a trailblazer in the field of journalism, breaking barriers and setting new standards for excellence in reporting.

SHE HAS ALSO received series of recognitions by various local and international organizations/institutions including the ECOWAS and ALJA among others since her appointment as the first female Managing Editor in the country over a year ago.

THEREFORE, WE, THE management and staff of the Inquirer Newspaper, celebrate this achievement not only for our boss, but for every employee especially in the editorial department as it is important to reflect on the broader impact of her work on the Liberian media community.

OUR BOSS’ CONTRIBUTIONS have helped to raise standards of journalism in the country, inspiring others especially female journalists from various media institutions to strive for excellence and uphold the values of integrity and professionalism despite the challenges and to be consistent.

IN A TIME when the media is under increase pressure from political and economic forces, the work of journalists is more important than ever but because of her passion, she was able to overcome all of these challenges to excel, as her story is now beacon of hope for female journalists in Liberia.

IN CONGRATULATING OUR dynamic boss on her latest award, we as staff of the Inquirer Newspaper would also like to take a moment to thank her for her many contributions to the Liberian media community and the improvement of our institution since her ascendency.
