The Liberia National Police (LNP) has begun probe into a complaint filed by a teller of the G. N. Bank in Ganta, Nimba County into the allegation of a US$ 2, 000 theft.
The police commander, Adolphus Zuah, said on September 12, he received a complaint from a teller at the G.N. Bank for mistakenly cashing out some US$ 2, 000 to one Peter Bailey who had gone to withdraw LD 2, 000.
According to the police, suspect Bailey had gone to the bank to get his pension benefits in Liberian Dollars but mistakenly he was given United States Dollars by the teller and he walk away.
The police explained that few days later Bailey was hooked and some of the money was retrieved while he is still undergoing investigation.
The chief of police added that the 60-year old man had worked with the Ganta United Methodist Hospital for several years.
When contacted, G. N. Bank manager confirmed the incident but said, nobody complained to press and said that the issue has been settled.
