Celebrating Liberia female football fanatics, Determine Girls Football Club president Grace Hawa Weah, popularly known as Master Queen has launched a call for greater inclusion of women in sports across Liberia and Africa.

Speaking to members of the Liberia Female Football stakeholders in Barnesville Estate, Weah emphasized the role of women in reshaping the sports landscape and fostering deeper cultural connections through shared experiences and artistic expression.

The women football administrator explained that sport can be used as a cultural bridge between different regions in patronizing and sharing heritage through the love of the game.

Using a vivid metaphor, Weah likened the potential of sports-driven cultural fusion to “a blend of Nigerian Afro-beats and Liberia’s traditional Gbema rhythms.” This, she explained, reflects

how sports can unite diverse communities and promote African identity through music, storytelling, and the arts.

She urged stakeholders to view football not just as a competition but as a storytelling platform that is capable of showcasing the resilience, creativity, and diversity of African women.

“Liberian women have boundless potential in both sports and the creative arts,” Weah asserted. “We must use our cultural heritage and artistic talents to tell stories that inspire and empower.”

Master Queen’s deliberation also exposed the capability of Women’s Leadership in a male-dominated field using her experience with one of the country’s leading football teams in the last five years.

Weah expressed pride in her trailblazing role as a female leader in the male-dominated football industry. She acknowledged the support of Liberia Football Association President Mustapha I. Raji and other advocates for women’s football development.

“The success of Nigerian music and film globally shows the power of cultural collaboration,” she said. “Liberia and other African nations must harness that same energy to uplift women in sports and the arts.”

She closed her remarks by encouraging women across the continent to collaborate across creative sectors, stating that unity and shared purpose are essential to sustaining the cultural renaissance Africa is currently experiencing.

The event underscored the growing movement for gender equity in sports and the cultural power sports can harness to inspire lasting change.

Her remarks linking sports and culture art is a reminder to the public that apart from being a football stakeholder for many years, Grace Weah is a household name in Liberia’s film and entertainment industry.

With a significant portion of foundational prominence deeply rooted in the media where she served as a radio personality, she can also be remembered for outstanding contribution to the promotion of Liberian music.
