President George Weah has officially dedicated the PHP Recreation Park, naming it “Liberia Unification Park”, aimed at promoting peace and unity among citizens through recreational activities.
The dedication ceremony, held over the weekend in Monrovia, was attended by several current and former top Liberian government officials, including former President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, among others.
At the program, President Weah said the Liberia Unification Park will serve as a representation of the country’s lasting peace over the years, noting that it also serves the purpose of promoting peace among all citizens, irrespective of their diverse backgrounds.
The Liberian leader added that the recreation center should be a reminder to all Liberians to foster unity in the interest of the country.
aThe dedication of the Liberia Unification Park comes barely one month to the officially turning over of power from the Coalition for Democratic Change government to the Unity Party administration headed by former vice- President, now President-elect, Joseph Boakai.
President Weah further noted that the park should serve as a motivation for Liberians to work collaboratively for the good of the Country.
Meanwhile, the Liberian Chief Executive has appealed to all Liberians to take good care of the park and use it wisely and for its intended purpose.
Also speaking, former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said the future of Liberia is directly in the hands of Liberians, stressing the need for Liberians to unite and come together, irrespective of their tribe, religion, or political party.
