Liberia, Cameroon Strengthen Ties …As Nyanti Applauds Unity, Regional Peace Efforts

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, has hailed the Republic of Cameroon for its steadfast pursuit of national unity and regional peace, while emphasizing Liberia’s intention to broaden cooperation between the two nations through multilateral engagements.

Representing President Joseph Boakai, Minister Nyanti conveyed heartfelt congratulations to the government and people of Cameroon on behalf of the Liberian leader and the broader citizenry.

She lauded the Cameroonian leadership for its unwavering commitment to unity, national development, and regional stability.

Minister Nyanti underscored Liberia’s admiration for Cameroon’s developmental strides despite prevailing challenges. She noted that Liberia recognizes the value of Cameroon’s role in fostering peace and security within Central and West Africa. According to her, such efforts resonate with Liberia’s own aspirations for a stable and integrated continent.

She also spoke of the shared values and history binding the two nations, citing common interests in education, trade, peacekeeping, and regional integration. She emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation through existing bilateral and multilateral frameworks, particularly under the African Union and the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).

“Liberia remains open to expanding avenues of collaboration with Cameroon in our collective quest to uplift our peoples and ensure a peaceful Africa,” Minister Nyanti declared. Her remarks reflected Liberia’s broader foreign policy agenda under President Boakai, which prioritizes regional solidarity and mutual development.

Responding to the Liberian government’s gesture, the Cameroonian Ambassador accredited to Monrovia, Beng’yela Augustine Gang, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and solidarity extended to his country.

He applauded Liberia’s long-standing support and described the relationship between the two nations as rooted in mutual respect and enduring friendship.

Ambassador Gang emphasized Cameroon’s interest in enhancing its diplomatic engagement with Liberia, noting that both nations have collaborated effectively on regional initiatives.

He specifically referenced Liberia’s contributions to peacebuilding efforts in Africa and acknowledged the historic solidarity shown in times of need.

He however, encouraged both countries to build on existing frameworks to explore new opportunities in economic cooperation, cultural exchange, and capacity building. He further called for the revitalization of bilateral agreements to align with contemporary priorities in Africa’s development trajectory.
